Rapping is obviously his true calling....

to

For those of you who dont know, Joaquin Phoenix dropped acting to become a rapper.  Kind of like a successful Jaime Kennedy. I have yet to hear his songs but I am definitely looking forward to hearing them. After recent events he is really taking on the rapper persona, yelling how much money he has in his accounts at heckling fans and even jumping in the crowd to fight the hecklers too. Possible Dipset inductee? I can only pray for this.

See the similarities?

Oh the champions....oh the champions

With the second leg of the UEFA Champions League less than 24 hours away, I thought i would take a look at the first round of the knockout stages..

Tuesday feb 24th

-Inter Milan vs. Manchester United

Part one of the Italy vs. England series.  Currently both teams sit on top of the tables in their leagues and they both are out to prove they have what it takes.  Inter is looking to take the CL and ManU are looking to prove that they are the best in the world by taking it for the second year in a row.  With Manchester losing key defenders due to suspension and injury, many feel that Inter will take this game, especially since it is a home game for them.

My pick: Inter.  With Man U missing players i feel Inters attacking force will take over,
especially with their swedish star striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic

hes deadly in the air, on the ground in the box and outside the box.  Man United will have a tough time covering him. I predict a 2-1 score

Arsenal v. AS Roma

Part 2 of the Italy v. England Series.  With both teams not performing up to their usual stature and sitting outside of the qualification zone for next years CL, both teams have a lot to prove.  With Arsenals captain, Cesc Fabregas out with injury and recent star signing Arshavin being cup tied, and recently recovered striker Eduardo out with a hamstring injury, Arsenal is lacking in the midfield.  With both teams playing to a similar style, so it should be one of the most exciting games in the knock out rounds.

My Pick: Arsenal of course.  They have been playing the majority of the season with an
injured midfield and they have still managed to overcome top teams and have not lost, though very frustrating with draws, in over 10 games.

-players to watch:

Samir Nasri.  Arsenals summer record signing has proven to be a vital and dangerous offensive weapon in play making and scoring.

Robin Van Persie, the flying dutchman.  Definitely our dangerous weapon in the attacking field, with a deadly left foot opponents must watch him from free kicks, corners and anywhere in or around the box.

This will be a series that says the most about both teams.

Lyon v. Barcelona

Both teams are giants in their leagues with great striking talent.  Barcelona has a great defense and attacking side led by Lionel Messi, following Samuel Eto'o and Arsenal Legend Thierry Henry.  Though I like both teams, i feel that Barcelona is out to prove they are the team this year.

players to watch:

Samuel Eto'o.  Just a deadly player all around and hes fast too.

Thierry Henry, another deadly striker.  Though he may not be at his forum from his Arsenal days, he still is able to show that he is a world class player.

Lionel Messi.  Stealing Cristiano Ronaldos spotlight as best player of the world, this youngster will make his presence known.

Atletico Madrid v. FC Porto

With Atletico sitting in 7th place in La Liga, this spanish squads hunt for glory is still on.
I dont know too much about both teams, but I believe that Atletico is favored.  With young star, Kun Aguero,  I feel they will take this round.

Players to watch:

being referred to as the new Maradona, Kun will be a presence on the field

So those are the games for tuesday.  Wednesday's games will be exciting as well

Introducing.....

Have you ever what it would sound like if James Brown made a Cabaret band with the Dillinger Escape Plan?  Well if you have, definitely check out Cincinnati, Ohios'  Foxy Shazam.  Known for setting themselves apart from most bands, this band definitely brings it to you whether on cd or in front of your face.  Singer Eric Sean Nally has been known for his James Brown-like acrobatics on stage and having the same intensity as Dillingers Greg Puciato, minus being 95% biceps.  Also he has being seen eating cigs on stage as part of the performance and has been noted as not just doing coke, but doing all the coke(rumor).  Foxy released their sophmore album, "Introducing...." which is an interesting blend of hardcore, cabaret, and funk(some of the funkiest breakdowns i must say).  Two songs i would recommend from this cd are Introducing... and Dangerous Man (which has been their debut music video as well).  If your interested in their older stuff, check out their debut album, Flamingo Trigger and listen to No. Dont Shoot.  At times some of their songs leave you thinking,  "uhhh why did they do that", but all in all they are worth checking out.

And so it begins...

So after much deliberation, I've decided to create a blogspot.  Mostly to follow a fellow friends new blog  Gooner Manifesto (Arsenal F.C. related) and to post my thoughts on most things soccer(football for you non-Americans), music, film, and whatever is going on in the news....most of the sources from teen beat, the only reliable source these days.  So whoever reads this be prepared haha.
